Our Story

Tikal, Floris - Livy

We headed for our last stop in Guatemala, Flores! Flores is a little town near the Mayan ruins called Tikal. The Mayans were a ancient civilization from around 1500 years ago. There ruins are still there and you can go see them. We had to take a 8 hour bus ride to get there. We got to our hostel called Los Amigos. It was really nice.
We woke up the next day to the sound of church bells. At 5:30. We got up and went down for breakfast. The tour was the next day so we decided what to do for the day. we had heard from some locals about a rope swing down the lake so we went there. We took a 5 minute boat ride and spent a hour there. It was really fun and we did'int want to leave.

The rest of the day was spent touring around the city.
The next mourning we had to get up for the Tikal tour. A bus came to pick us up and off we went. It was a hour and a half. When we got there we stopped to get a drink and some snacks. our guide finally started the tour. we were going to visit the pyramids firs and the the main plaza.

We went up a lot of the pyramids. In total the tour was 4 hours. It was cool but very long and a little boring.
Flores and Tikal were more for the culture. It was not in my top 5.
