Our Story

Bali - Livy

We left Australia ( not that any of us wanted to) and headed to Bali. We were going to be here 6 days. We were staying at the most beautiful place in the world! It was a villa with our own private pool!

We walked down to the beach which  was the most disgusting beach I have ever been on! There was garbage everywhere!!! The traffic there is unbelievable! My parents were here 16 years ago, and said they did not recognize one thing there! The next day we rented a driver for the day. First he took us to the monkey forest. It makes sense why it is called the monkey forest. There must have been over 200 monkeys there!

The monkey was sitting on my hair
We bought bananas to feed them. We held one banana above our head and the monkeys would run up your body and sit on your shoulder until they were finished eating. They were actually very heavy and one of them was sitting on my hair but it was so worth it. Next we went to the rice patties. They are a big part of the culture so it was important for us to see it. It was really cool how the it was organized. It is hard to describe. Just look at the pictures.

We went for lunch after that. Me and Anneka got a pizza to share. It was really good. After lunch we went to a temple. We had to were sarongs over our legs.

We walked through a little market to get out. I bought a new sarong. It is so awesome. Its blue with a lot of designs on it.
Anneka made a new friend.

We went to a waterfall next. It was't the most beautiful water fall we have been to but it was OK. It was full of garbage. It is crazy how much garbage there is here. It's the whole island. Just piles and piles of garbage. I hate Bali so much so far. Anyway, on the way back we saw these newborn puppy's! They were only 6 weeks old! We stopped to get a drink so we could sit and pet them. They were all sleeping. It was so cute! That was it for the day. We went for dinner witch was OK. It was a 20 minute walk there, and a 20 minute walk back so by the time we were home it was 9:30. We got ready for the night and went to bed. The next mourning it was poring rain out so we went to the 3D painting musiem. It was so cool! We took over 200 hundred pictures there. ( don't worry, I'm not going to showall of them)

We are in a glass elevator in the picture above. When we were taking it it looked like nothing, but from were our dad was standing, it looks like what you see rite now.

I know, it's a lot of pictures. That is not even half of them! When we got out of there, it had stopped raining so we took a ca and went to a different beach. This one was just as gross as the one were we were staying. There was garbage everywhere! There was a river feeding into the ocene, but you could't see the water, that's how much garbage there was on top of it. I was ready to leave Bali. The next day we took a snorkeling trip on a different Island. Yay!!! The first place we went snorkeling was great. It was mostly coral but it was still beautiful. The second place we went, I don't know what we were there to see. The only good thing about it, was that we saw a giant see turtle. And that was just luck. The third place we went to, our guide was feeding the fish and all these little shiny blue ones came and all you could see was blue. We had a crappy lunch. And then headed home. It took so long to get there and back that by the time we got there it was dinner! We went to the most delicious restaurant called Suka Suka. The couple that ran it was the nicest couple I have ever met. The next day was our last day ( which we were all very happy about ) We were leaving at 2:30 PM To cath our flight. We still had to pack up so we just stayed at our place. Me and Anneka played in the pool most of the mourning to enjoy our last moment in our privat pool! Next stop Lombock! ( another island ).

The only thing I liked about Bali, was the food and our place. Other than that, I did not like it. The traffic, the polution, and the garbage. Bali was not the paradise I was hoping for.

  1. Hi Livy - my name is Matt, my wife is Lindsay and we have four boys: Owen, Jake, Ben and Eli. We are planning a big family adventure a lot like you are doing - planning on leaving Canada in June. I love your writing! In fact, I really hope that our boys will want to write for our blog once we are out traveling. Do you have any tips for them? What makes you want to keep writing?

One thing I can tell you is that if you keep writing, we will keep reading :) All the best to you guys!
