Our Story

The Greek islands-Livy

Sadly we left Athens and headed to the Greek islands. We were going to 3. Santorini, Naxos and Mykinos.

Santorini

We first went to Santorini. We stayed in the town Fera. Our place was nice, close to town

This is an awesome picture

Everything was white and polished. A little to polished for me

This is from the highest point. (I think)
We had a car rented and we went to a old, old, old city. It was sort of like Pompey. It was a whole civilization and then the Volcano erupted and it got coverd in ash
I know, I know, it looks like a bunch of pieces of stone. But it was really awesome

Some of the buildings

We took the car back to the hotel and went into the town Oia. We stopped for lunch at a outdoor food market. Can you guess what we ate? Correct. Gyros. They were delicious, but still. That night we went to see the sunset. Santorini is famous for it's sunset. It is one of the best spots in the world. It was the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.

The windmills were so cool

Anneka's smile is so weird

The last morning we were there we did the 500 steps down to the waterfront. The whole town was on a cliff  so we walked down to the small fishing village. There were a lot of donkey riding places and we stopped to pet them a few times.

The walk back up was so tiring!!! It felt good afterwards, though. That was pretty much it for Santorini. We had fun here. It was a little to polished for me, but it was sill awesome.
Next stop NAXOS.

Naxos

We took a ferry over to Naxos, and I immediately loved it. It was sort of like Santorini, but it was a little more... old. The ferry docked at a sort of board walk, made of stone. There were a lot of restaurants down this street. Our hotel was really nice. It was just a place to sleep, though. That night we went down to the "board walk" to have dinner. It was expensive but really good. (And when was the last time we ate expensive anyway?) The next day was spent touring the city. We saw some churches, walked up and down ally ways, and saw Apollo's temple. (He is the sun god)

These pink bushes were everywhere!

I was surprised at how good shape it was in after 2000 years

Can you belive someone actually lives in the beautiful building

It seemed like every ally way was breathtaking

The next day we we went to an old castle. While we were leaving we met a couple from New Zealand. We were talking with them for at least an hour. Anneka found a cat so that kept her busy. We were going to meet them for dinner at a awesome gyro place we found at lunch. That night at dinner we all had gyros. They were amazing!!! After, me and Anneka went next door to a bakery to get a chocolate brownie each. They were the best Brownies ever! Warm and had icing and were made of fudge! They were so good.
The next morning we walked down to the beach and then it was time to leave. We were all sad to go, but we had to continue our adventure.

Mykinos

We took a ferry over to Mykinos, our last stop in Greece. On the way Over, we stopped at an island that used to be a whole civilization. It was so windy it was actually kind of painful. The old city had so many houses and buildings. The coolest thing was probably the lion statues. They were statues in rally good condition.

They brought some statues inside

We got to Mykinos about an hour later. It was so beautiful! Our place was on top of a mountain that you had to walk up, but other than that, it was amazing!!! There was a really sweet German Shepherd there. German Shepherds are my favorite type of dogs, so I loved him! Anyway, the island was really expensive, so we were only there 2 days. Both days were spent touring.

I cannot believe that we are leaving Greece. It is by far one of my favorite places, and I am so sad to leave. Only 7 more country's to go! Crazy, I know!
NEXT STOP, CROATIA!!!
