Our Story

Chang Mai - Livy

We left Vietnam and headed for northern Thailand. Last time we were here, we were in south Thailand, so now we are meeting our friends in Northern. We were going to meet Vincent and Matthias. They are the people who we first met in Costa Rica, then Australia, and now here. (Hey, guys!) Chang Mai is known for there Elephant sanctuary's , so we were for sure going too do one of those. We went to check in at our hotel, and were going to meet them for dinner. They were going to stay at our hotel in a few days. We went to a restaurant called Kats Kitchen.  The food was so good!!! I got chicken cury with rice which was amazing! The next day we wen to the grand canyon. (Not the famous one!) We ate lunch there then went swimming. Me, Matthias and Vincent got a paddle board and went around the lake.

We then went to the grand canyon water park next store. It was amazing! It was a blow up so everything was bouncy and slippery. it was more like a obstacle course and some of it was really hard. There was a jumping place with slides on it, and on one side there is a big pillow at the bottom. It only has a little bit of air in it, so if you jump on one side the other fills up with air, and gets hard. What your supposed to do is, one person jumps on it, and goes to the far side. Then, a second person jumps and the first person goes flying and lands in the water. Me and my dad did it, and my dad launched me, I went flying! I was a little too far backward, and went up straight on my back. I did a belly flop on my back! It really hurt. My mom said I went really high and she could here the smack. Other then that incident, the water park was really fun.

That night we went to the night market for dinner. It was really cool! There were stands selling everything, everywhere! I got corn on the cob and beef skewers. Mom and Anneka got sushi and roti, and my dad got a little bit of everything. For desert the kids got Oreo shakes. They were really good!

The next day we went to a Elephant sanctuary. It was awesome! When we got there they give us bananas and we get to go feed the Elephants. They took pictures of us, then we went in the pen. There were 3  Elephants there. One was really old and huge. One was a mom to the baby there! He was so cute! Still bigger then Anneka though! They were so gentle  despite there size. I have to admit, they were a little intimidating at first, but you got used to them pretty quick.

After we were done feeding them, we went for a little drive to a banana tree field to cut down lunch. The Elephants actually ate the trunks of the tree. I know we were getting them lunch already! Everybody cut pieces then we all carried them back to the trucks.

When we got back we ate lunch. It was make your own chicken soup! It was delicious! We then fed the Elephants lunch and then we went into the mud pit to have a mud fight. I got covered from my shoulders and down. It was so fun!
